Fabric Stars: One or more 24cm square of solid background. At least 10 different scraps of bright fabric. Include at least one novelty for the centre. Houses: Fat quarters of background fabric. Scraps of different brights for the houses. Boats: Lights and dark blue fat quarters for the background. Scraps of brights for the boats. Cats: 2 or more fat quarters for the background. Scraps of different brights for the cats. **For brights include solids, prints, novelty, stripes and dots.
Shaded Faces Class with Anna Williams
This workshop is designed to help students create their own portrait quilt from a photo of their choice. The finished wall hanging will be approximately A3 size and will resemble an art quilt rather than a true to life portrait. The Photograph. The photo to use for this project can be any portrait of an adult, child or pet etc... The image needs to be good quality, in colour, clear and closely cropped without too much background ie the subjects face needs to be the main focus.
Please Note: To use your picture as a pattern it needs to be printed in grayscale (not black and white). The picture needs to be photocopied to A3 size and use colour mode to print (not black and white) on the photocopier. If you have photoshop you can posterise the image as follows but it is not essential. 1.Change your image to black and white. 2. Open it in photoshop 3.Click on 'image' along the top bar and scroll down the menu to adjustments and then to posterise. 4. Choose the 4 colour option and then print.
