"Open Day" every Friday

We have "Open Day" every Friday - just come in with whatever you are working on and have fun.  We will be here to lend a helping hand.  Just $2.00 for the day.Strictly speaking this is not a class but we are on hand to help.

Beginners Class - 7th March - 11th April

We have completely revamped our Beginners class this year. We are now running it over six weeks and have designed a table runners as our class project. Although this is smaller than the quilt we usually make we feel that it is perfect starting point for Beginner quilters. You will learn how to choose your colours, use the cutters and rulers that quilters use, sew a perfect 1/4" seam, put all your blocks together and add a border. We will guide you every step of the way. If you would rather make a quilt than a table runner - that no trouble - you will just need to make more blocks.

$60.00 for six weeks.

Tuesday Afternoon - 1.00 - 3.00 and Tuesday Night 7.00 - 9.00

Beginners Morning - Every Tuesday 9.00 - 12.30

Anyone who has done a Beginners Class can come to our Beginners Morning. This would be perfect spot for anyone who chose to make a quilt instead of a table runners for her Beginners project. There are all kinds of things being made at our Beginners Morning, bags, table runners, table mats quilts

This is a photo of Frances who make this Dr Seuss Quilt at our Tuesday class - she used a Cloth Shop pattern called Double Chocolate Drops. She also made the bag using our Easy Peasey bag pattern

$35.00 for six lessons

Wednesdays! .... are for quilting Every Wednesday from 9.00 in the morning until 9.00 at night

We have made a slight change to our Wednesdays are for Quilting too this year. We will not close at 5.00 after our day class and then open again for our night class at  6.30 as we have been doing for the last few years - instead we will stay open from 9.00am until 9.00 pm

. So that means if you want to do some shopping but can't make it until after 5.00 we will still be open, if you want to come and baste a quilt, it will be a good time to do it or if you want to stay late from the day class or come early to the night class you can!!

We talked about this last Wednesday night and decided that anyone who wants to and  is here at 6.00 will share a Pizza that we will have delivered, so you won't go hungry.

The class fee will remain the same - $35.-00 for six lessons

Sally made this gorgeous quilt doe a special baby at Wednesday night classes.

Caution- if some of these terms below sound like a foreign language - don't worry - at the end of six weeks it will make perfect sense!

We have a new plan for our Beginners Class for 2013, We have reduced the duration of the class to six weeks - during that time we will show you how to choose your fabrics, you to  cut it out perfectly, sew it perfectly so that you have perfectly flat accurate pieced blocks, set your blocks together into a table runner, baste it together with batting and backing and then quilt it and bind it - all in six weeks.

Six weeks for $60.00.

We have chosen a table runner because we know it is achievable over six weeks, if you would rather make a quilt instead of a table runner - that's fine - you just will need to make more blocks

Tuesday Morning Beginners Group (you will need to have attended our Beginners Class before you can come to this Group
This class is also good if you want to know how to applique, or make a bag or cushion, or anything!!  Class numbers will be kept small so there is no need to feel shy  - we would love to see you!!

Class time: 9.30 - 12.00
Fee: $35.00 for six lessons

Lampshades

This is a new class that we did at Summer School.  Our lampshade is covered with fabric from a Moda range called Circa 1934.  We found the perfect base in a shop in Wellington called Stacks www.stacksfurniture.co.nz

We will customise a class for you to make your own lampshade.
Here's how it works:
1.  Call into the shop and discuss colours, whether you want to piece the shade and size.
2.  If you choose to piece the shade, we will show you how to do this and what size piece you will need.  Allow at least an hour for this step - you may want to take it home to finish the piecing.
3.  Bring the pieced fabric back to The Cloth Shop and we will send it away to Helen at Joug Design.  There, it will be fused to laminate then sent back to us with the appropriate wire templates, ready for you to complete.
4.  You will come back to the shop and we will help you to finish your lampshade.

Fee: $110.00 - includes the two lessons, the laminate and fusing process and the wire templates.
