Classes
This year we have some great new classes and some inspiring tutors!
All workshops are held in "The Play Room" at The Cloth Shop. It is air conditioned and tea, coffee and filtered water are always available. You can book into workshops by phone, or email to clothshop@clothshop.co.nz or come in and see us at The Cloth Shop.
These Classes are held every Month
Baltimore with Rose.is held at the Cloth Shop once a month on the last Sunday of the Month. At a recent class some of the class helped Jan baste her beautiful quilt together ready for hand quilting. if you think you would enjoy making a Baltimore Block but not sure if it is your thing - why don't you come along and give it a try. Classes start at 10.30 and finish at 3.00 on the last Sunday of the Month. $30.00.
There is a requirements list on our Requirement page although that is for the whole quilt. You won't need as much to make one block - email or phone us if you would like more details.
This class is held every month on the last Sunday of the Month
Every Block is an Experience is held at The Cloth Shop once a month on the second Sunday of each month. This kind of class is a new one for us as it is Free style piecing - no templates and no pattern to show what the finished quilt will look like - sort of "design as you go" quilt.
So far we have learnt how to piece houses, cats, stars and boats and now everyone in the class is working on their own "Plan".If you are not sure if Free style piecing is your thing, but you would like to have a go you can book into the class for a trial session.

Husky Club
This is a free club day for everyone who has bought a Husqvarna sewing machine from us.
We have different projects to works on and help each other to get the best from our lovely Husqvarna sewing machines
Day - 9.30 until about 2.30
Evening - 6.30 - 9.30
This class is held every month on the second Monday of the Month
Wednesdays are for Quilting
Every Wednesday - a quilting class where you learn whatever you would like to make. A Class for anything when it's not a class!!
Day - all day from 9.30 - 5.00. You can stay part of the day or all day.
Evening - 6.30 - 9.30
$30.00 for six classes - morning or evening.

Saturday Strippers
8.30 - 9.30 on the second Saturday of the Month.
We demo how to make quilts, bags and other cool stuff using strips of fabrics. There is no charge to come to Saturday Strippers and you do not have to bring your machine. We would love to see you here.

Saturday Sampler
This is not really a class - it a programme we are running. You need to choose a colourway at the beginning of the year, but if hou come in to the shop and feel you just have to start - let us know and we will try and accommodate you. This year our colorways are Black and Cream, Bright Kiwiana, and Customised (You choose your own colourway) We also have a Textured option - all blocks are made with calico and we are showing you a new texture each month.Cost for the year $35.00 Conditions apply.
Saturday Sampler is held all day on the Second Saturday of each month
Don't Bring Your Machine!!
Friday Afternoons 1pm – 4pm. This is new class
We will have different projects you can work on our new Block of the Month called A Kittens Tale would be great – but there are others!. We will show you how to do simple hand stitching – back stitch, stem stitch, lazy daisy etc, appliqué using blanket stitch, hand appliqué using freezer paper, even hand piecing. $30 for six classes.
Quilt in a Day
We will hold another Quilt in a Day Class on Saturday 2nd October. There are seven patterns that you can choose from - and we will cut your quilt and have it ready for you so that you can get stuck into the sewing straight away!
9.30 - 4.30
$150.00 - includes fabrics. tuition and lunch - a great day out and you can go home with a finished quilt top tucked under your arm

Baltimore Class
Once a month on the last Sunday of the month. If you have always wanted to make a handmade heirloom, this is your chance.

WEDNESDAYS ARE FOR QUILTING
Every Wednesday is a quilting class where you make whatever you would like to make. Always someone here to help if you get stuck!
Day - All day from 9.30am to 5.00pm
